This week in class we were putting together the page for work and power. We made a table for the exercises that I did. We figured out the power of each muscle group also we figured out the force of each muscle group in my body. My legs were, without a doubt, the strongest and my arms were the weakest muscle group we tested. Next week we are on vacation but the week after that we will be talking about energy.
This week in class we talked about work and energy. Work is defined as when a force acts on a body, and there is a displacement of the point of application in the direction of the force. Energy is defined as a property of objects, transferable through interactions, which can't be created nor destroyed. To demonstrate work and energy in the aspect of sports I did a bunch of lifting exercises. These exercises include leg press, arm curls, bench press, and sitting rows. My legs were the strongest muscle group and my arms were the weakest muscle group in my body. The force my legs put on the weight was 1,000.62 N, the work my legs did was 330.2 J and the power my legs produced was 275.16 W.
This week we took a look at energy and work. To explain this in simpler terms its property of objects transferred through interactions, which can be neither created or destroyed. This week we did a lab activity which showed Connor doing various workouts which gave us data on force, distance, work, and power. We did exercises like arms, legs, chest, and back. This gave us information that Connors legs are stronger than his other parts of his body, which isnt unusually since hes a runner. Next week we will continue to work on this and hope to learn a few more things until i go on this internship.
This week on forces we started to film our video which consisted of Christian tackling me. The video came out good, but the analysis showed that its only constant motion since friction was a matter of the equation when i tensed up slightly. This made the logger pro video fail. Even though it was a problem we decided to use another video to show force. Next week we must find a
This week we showed an example of forces in sports. For the video Christian tackled Drew, who was at a stand still. This is a good example of a force because as Christian hits Drew the force that Christian uses to hit Drew is exerted onto Drew which then makes Drew fly backwards. We were out to show how a force is used in sports and the best we could think of for an example of a force in motion was a tackle. Next week we will be on the unit of energy and an example of energy being used in a sport is someone pushing a bowling ball down the alley.
We are working currently on finishing up our forces page. All we have to do is get our video off the camera that we took it on and get it onto our forces page. Then we have to logger pro it and put both of those onto our page and then we will be done with our page. After that we can move onto the next topic.
This week on forces we tried to get a video to show forces. A force is everywhere and can be anything, you can be getting pushed or pulled by an object or accelerated in a direction. For our video this week we showed christian tacking me. This is a force because since i was standing still he accelerated me into the air and evidently changing where i started. Not only that their was clearly a show of force because i jerked back which i couldn't do on my own. We will continue to show more examples and hope to finish our page
This week we worked on force. We learned that when a force is exerted on an object say a locker. The person who punches the locker doesn't and won't feel their force on the locker they will feel the force the locker puts back on their hand. For our video this week we took a slow motion video of myself tackling Drew. In the video Drew is at a stand still and once I hit him you can see him move and since its slow motion you can see when the force is put on him because it only happens when we are touching.
